National Geographic School Publishing / Hampton-Brown used the most current scientifically-based research in the development of inZone Books designed to inspire striving readers in grades 6-12 and promote independent reading. Three key elements defined by Reading Next: A Vision for Action and Research in Middle and High School Literacy state in order to improve adolescent literacy achievement in middle and high schools, programs must include motivation and self-directed learning, provide access to diverse texts, and use text-based collaborative learning. These key elements were used in the development of inZone Books and are described in more detail in this report.
